Week of May 11-15
Hi 6th graders!
This is your ELA weekly assignment. ELA covers Reading and Written Expression. This week you will use one passage to complete your weekly tasks.
Day 1: Read the passage and annotate it. Do this just like we do in class.

1. Do something to title. (Circle it, put brackets around it)
2. Circle any words you may not know, and then define them.
3. Identify central idea.
4. Identify two pieces of evidence that proves it's the central idea.
Day 2: Answer the multiple choice questions that accompany the passage.
Day 3: Do #6 in RACE. Be sure you use your explanation sentence starters!
Day 4: Do #7 with the same instructions as Day 3.
Also, it would be wonderful if you did IXL. Here are the recommended but not required IXL lessons for this second week.

However NOTHING can replace 20 minutes of independent reading! Read! Read! Read! Go out in the sunshine and read for pleasure! Reading independently is a great way to stay focused!
